While the bristles are soft, they are strong enough to provide the necessary pressure against the teeth. My cat has a relatively small head and mouth, yet she resisted this brush the least of all. Fits nicely in my hand and the brush head isn't too big for my cats tiny faces & teeth. I'd recommend it so far and I'm going to keep on with this brush instead of trying a new product every time.
