Surge protectors should STOP working once the surge protection is used up. These are among the few that operate like this. Always look for this feature, as surge protectors often wind up sitting under a desk for years. When it stops functioning as a surge protector, why would you want it to continue functioning as a passthrough power strip? There's no more protection. This line of Tripp Lite surge protectors function properly, and STOP working when it can no longer function as a surge protector.

It's just a good, basic, solid surge protector, made by a good company. There are definitely cheaper, no-name brand surge protectors available, but how often do you buy these things?
