The pickaxe was produced by Diamond Calk Horseshoe Co. of Duluth, Minnesota, while the cover was made by W. L. Dumas Mfg. Co. Both pieces were manufactured in 1944. The wooden handle is its original and bears a faint "U. S." stamping. We have refrained from removing the pickaxe head and assembling it with the cover, so as not to damage the wood.
