Its distinctive blue color comes from iron and titanium, and some pieces with trace amounts of manganese can turn orange instead. This kyanite also contains inclusions of corundum, the same base mineral as rubies and sapphires.

Our lab is an aggressive chewer and LOVES his toys. I was looking for a chew toy that had a different shape than a regular ball or Kong and saw this. Our dog LOVES this toy because he can chew it when he wants to be alone and it keeps him entertained (especially when stuffed with food). He also plays "catch" with us by rolling the ball toward us with his nose. So far there is no indication that he is damaging it so I'm very pleased with the durability.
