It has been painted over rather sloppily in brown paint and the strap loop at the bottom of the handle is a little crushed. Other than that, this is a great mess kit. The inside is insanely clean for the age and looks basically unused and nearly brand new. It does have the spoon mounting pieces which is, in my opinion, one of the coolest features of the WWI mess kit. This is a pretty good
